@bmairs Yes it can be done if your rent is $1000 or less. But it would definitely be in the "just getting by" category. I was grossing $50k/y in Vancouver and still saving $15k/y in 2015. If it was today I'd probably have no savings.

@WealthMechanic1 Compared to stocks, real estate kinda sucks if you have to be a landlord. For the average person though, RE is the only investment they're comfortable with.
