Steve points out the Sens bringing up college players and a strong Dmen class
A guy that fits those two criteria, could be available at 32 and fits the Sens mold is Sokolovskii
6’8 LHD ranked anywhere from 20-50. Didn’t produce much for London, and is going the NCAA route
Senators Reveal Their First-Round Draft Approach After NHL Sends Them To The Back Of The Line

Every time I watch a Habs game it seems like they get kicked up and down the ice, but they end up winning anyway while getting doubled up on shots lol.
RESULTS (thread below)
On the left, results of a regression model of key stats for what the Sens would be looking for with all non full-time centres.
Then, a "perfect winger match" taking microstats, playstyle, and age/contract into account for players I think may be available
Really don’t see the need for Ristolainen. Only way I see a fit is if the plan is to move out one of Spence/Zub.
Zub I can see an argument for (1year left, age, injuries) and he could fetch you some good assets, but moving out Spence would be idiotic.
Darren Dreger: Re Senators: I know that Steve Staios was fairly down the road in negotiations in acquiring Rasmus Ristolainen at the trade deadline; that's a pretty clear indication of what...Ottawa were trying to acquire, like a proven defenseman - Ray & Dregs (4/27)
@politicstcan Just Green having favourites I suppose lol.
Sens have so many middle6 options it’s just nuts he rarely made adjustments over the year.
If other skaters had Zetterlund leash/usage people would see how much it affects production. Why you can’t/shouldn’t look at raw countin stats
I’d personally re-sign:
Giroux, Cousins, Thomson and Spence from the NHL roster. Clarke, Halliday, Bourgault, Boucher, Kaliyev, Toure and Meriläinen for AHL depth + potential NHL spots.
The rest could walk.

Olle Lycksell (group 6)

@iCuhRupt First punch happens all the time during scrums. Plenty of guys are 3rd man in and throw that extra shot. It’s not right but acting like it’s uniquely dirty is disingenuous.
The 2nd punch is all the anyone cares about and is why he’s getting a hearing.
Seeing this again and Greig should get a suspension for this. But those saying he threw multiple punches at a vulnerable player are just lying.
Just nuts that this play is viewed as worse than any other play from the series. Kinda seems like people just really don’t like Greig.
Like is this punch worse than Svechnikov throwing multiple punches into the back of Kleven’s head/neck? Probably not, but since he got a penalty for it isn’t brought up.
Greig deserves some form of punishment for the punch, but I find it wild how so many people have gravitated towards this play as the greasiest play in hockey history.
Feels like there are plenty of examples of 3rd guys in throwing punches/headlocks that never get this attention.
Underrated part about the Kleven hit was the Sens somehow failed to score on a mini 3on1 in front of the net lol. Anytime I see a highlight of the hit that’s all I’m noticing.
Senators with 5 goals in four games... xG was around 14, per @NatStatTrick. Andersen is a big reason why, but also many missed shots + unfinished chances really came back to bite them. They really needed more scoring from the top of the lineup.
