Relevant to my most recent Substack. Debt has been growing relative to GDP over time for many advanced countries. For Japan, it's debt is 2.37 times larger than its GDP. For the U.S., that number is 1.24.
So, why has only one of these (Greece) defaulted in recent history?
Why do so many cities in America look the same? Why do they all have the same stores and restaurants? Is this "good" or "bad?"
I answer these questions in my newest YouTube video. Very thankful to have interviewed @HansbergRossi for this one.
Wow. Never thought I would ever get this level of visibility. Very thankful. Going to continue to put a lot of thought, care, and quality into future videos to bring economics research to the public in an understandable way.
Anyways, check out the link in my description to watch this video. I would post it here, but the algorithm is already going to destroy this post. No need for further destruction.
I also interviewed Rachel Ngai, Professor of Economics at LSE. Sending a huge shout out to her for taking the time to be interviewed.
I plan to have more interviews in my future videos, so if you're an economist, watch out -- I could be sending you a message in the future. ๐
Excited to share a YouTube video I made explaining the 72 year growing trend of men staying out of the labor force in the U.S.
I put a lot of work into this video to make sure it followed a coherent story. I even visited a retired pig iron factory.
@mr_ki11myselF @captgouda24 Thanks for the shoutout! Addressing some ref comments on this paper and should have more info on intensive and extensive employment responses coming from the Census soon. โบ๏ธ
Hoping this channel will teach a few people something new while hopefully inspiring at least one person to love economics as much as I do. Feel free to share it and provide suggestions!

Of course, I am just starting out, so there is a lot of room to grow. I never had video editing experience prior to this, so I plan to learn something new and get better with each video. Talking in front of a camera is a new experience as well.
Mississippi's rising 4th grade test scores became a very popular topic a couple months ago -- mainly their reading scores. There was a lot of debate on phonics.
But their math scores also increased dramatically between 2011 and 2019.
And that begs the questions: is this simply a matter of Mississippi's math curriculum aligning more with the NAEP test? And if so, should we be placing a lot of weight on geometry in the NAEP tests? Does it even matter for success?
I think there has been a lot of debate on whether GenAI will destroy jobs, but there hasn't really been as much discussion on how businesses will actually use it to create value and affect everyone's daily life.
