SPILLING THE TEA🫖🍵
@busboysandpoets — the progressive D.C.-area coffee chain owned by Iraqi-born activist and restaurateur @andyshallal is now facing a lawsuit from author Jordan Randall after allegedly backing out of a written agreement to promote and sell his novel Pinkface once the company saw a photo of him.
According to the complaint reviewed by the @DailyCaller, Busboys had already agreed to market the book, reserve event space, and signed a consignment contract giving Randall 60% of book sales before abruptly canceling the arrangement.
Court transcripts reviewed by the Caller show Busboys defended the decision by arguing Randall — who is not transgender — should not be writing about transgender themes, while continuing to promote books tackling race and gender issues written by authors who personally identify with those subjects.
Reasoning which draws parallels to a modern “separate but equal” standard for who is allowed to tell certain stories.
🚨SCOOP: A progressive coffee chain, Busboys and Poets, is being sued after dropping a mixed-race author, over his novel featuring a fake gender transition.
According to the legal complaint reviewed by the Daily Caller, Busboys and Poets later offered shifting explanations for canceling the arrangement, including claims that the book was “transphobic” or that Jordan Randall was writing about experiences he did not personally identify with.
