#RouteOfTheDay: Post - from @JordanSanchez_2 (6’3” 190lb-co ‘27-4.33 gpa)
Great start to the route w/ a strong outside stick; which gets the DB to slide outside & open up the inside release. Solid use of hands (hammer low DB hands) to keep chest clean as he works across DB. DB is now outside of route’s path so WR works a heavy Lean-Lean-Chicken Wing to “push off” & create separation. Easy money after that. Great route!
#RouteoftheDay Over Drag from - Cade Gordon (5’7” - 170lbs - 4.02gpa - co ‘27)
Good routes aren’t always about having to pull from a huge move set. Sometimes it’s just about following your rules & playing w/ speed. WR takes a great path to the catch point (under Sam - over Mike). He then plays off the safety perfectly. Safety is bailing so he flattens the route at 10-12 yards. He’s now in open space. Gets a ball. Runs. Perfect play.
#RouteOfTheDay: Fade vs man - from Holden Hughes (6’1”-165lbs-co ‘29-4.0gpa)
Great quick split at the snap (meet power w/ power for stance) & just enough lean to get DB to move outside. He then moves vertically (every step goes forward) but also horizontally to take away the DBs ability to be physical (don’t try to shock a DB at the line). WR really wins this w/ the restack. DB might have the ability to catch up, but he’s trapped behind WR (who is nicely getting back to the bottom of the numbers) & DB can’t gain position. This is a really strong route by a young WR. Great catch too.
RouteOfTheDay: Fade vs Cover2 - from @JordanSanchez_2 (6’3” 190lb-co ‘27-4.33 gpa)
Another nice quick split on the snap (meet power w/ power for stance) & a strong swipe of the DBs hands (keep your chest clean). We don’t inside release very often w/ fades but when we do we need to restack & immediately getting back to the bottom of the numbers (own the numbers - not the sideline). He puts himself in the perfect spot for the cover2 honey hole shot. Strong and effective!
#RouteoftheDay Corner by @Geo_panagio9 (5’10” - 175lbs - 3.8gpa - co ‘29)
With Corners we avoid 1st level & beat second level. WR uses a Quake method to attack LB vertically & keep his stem line open. Then he dips inside & uses his hands to keep his chest clean & beat reroute attempt. This is how to avoid first level. Next he pushes vertical & uses a rocker step at the top to beat second level (could use to beat a 2-high safety or trailing defender). After the break, WR keeps the route high (front pylon aiming point) & it’s easy money from there. Tough route!
RouteOfTheDay: Quick Slant - from @colton_outzen (6’1” - 190lbs - co ‘28 - 4.22 gpa)
Love this in game route! We don’t practice these 2 moves together (only separate), but preach creativity w/ move set. Starts w/ split (stance mentality: meet power with power) & then sticks (able to freeze DB w/ stick inside his frame but outside DBs frame). Move has eye contact w/ CB & steering w/ shoulders to get CB to open outside. Then he can win immediately inside w/ speed. Great job securing the ball & running thru the catch. Great route!
RouteOfTheDay: Fade - from @JordanSanchez_2 (6’3” 190lb-co ‘27-4.33 gpa)
Starts w/ a quick split (stance mentality: meet power w/ power) & then wins quickly by using hands to keep his chest clean. First 10yrds he battles for position/re-stack (doesn’t run right to the sideline - owns the numbers - and doesn’t look back early. After restack he starts to track the ball. Strong catch! Great route!
@Calvary_FB boys getting a quiz at the Football IQ Academy with Dr. Boucher @D1_westchase. Always working the speed and strength in the off-season….gotta work the brain. Got some pass rush work in as well. #FIQA#DAiRaid#ChooChoo
