Kids should not return to schools without being fully vaccinated including those eligible for boosters. If these prevent severe outcomes and hospitilzation, then why @adriandix would you take the chance to further stress our health care system and risk our children’s lives? #bced
“Omicron is running rampant in communities and it makes sense that is going to happen in schools as well,” said B.C. Teachers' Federation president Teri Mooring.

* Delay in person school start date until we can better assess and deal with the #COVID19#Omicron spike
* Expedite boosters for staff

We are indeed living in a strange world in #bced. A world where families cannot get exemptions from the FSAs, a very strong line being taken. In yet when it comes to the health & safety of everyone in the system…mask exemptions? No problem…….no questions asked. #bcpoli
14 months in, we are that point where COVID deniers are coming in with severe infection, openly admitting participation in freedom and anti-mask rallies. /1

Aren’t we perpetuating the ‘elitist’ characterization of FRENCH IMMERSION (FI) by encouraging students who are experiencing difficulty to switch to the regular English program? Shouldn’t we be providing them with needed supports in the FI setting? Who’s with me? 🤔
To add, this Alberta government has put aside 1.5 million $ to fight this in the courts. This is an absurd amount of money. It is, quite frankly, an intimidation tactic by this government.
919 000 Anglophones living in Québec. Québ gov is looking at investing 100 million $ for their post-sec Education. 108.8$ per person.
268 000 Francophones living in Alberta. Asking for 1 million $ for our post-sec education. 3.7$ per person.

The UCP is spending $1.5 million in legal fees to defend cuts they made to Campus St. Jean which needed $1-$1.3 million in funding support. Ironic, much? #ableg
Survey of #bced teachers shows overwhelming support for masks in schools. Also:
- Health/safety measures in schools are still inadequate
- Teacher workload and burnout are increasing
- Teachers’ mental and physical health has worsened
