Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche is one step closer to winning Senate confirmation after agreeing to scrap a controversial $1.8 billion "anti-weaponization fund" that had stalled his nomination.

Blanche also narrowed tax protections tied to the Trump administration's IRS settlement, making clear they apply only to past tax filings, not future ones, satisfying concerns raised by Republican Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis after they delayed an earlier committee vote.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to vote on Blanche's nomination as Attorney General this week, with Republicans needing every GOP member on board to advance his confirmation as Democrats remain unanimously opposed.

Chief William "Bill" Chad Mulder served 20 years as a Navy SEAL, including time in the elite SEAL Team 6. Three Bronze Stars with Valor. Countless missions that saved American lives.

He retired in January 2017.

127 days later, on June 9, 2017, we lost him to suicide in Boerne, Texas. He was just 46.

His battle with TBI, PTSD and invisible wounds didn't end when he came home. Now he rests at Arlington National Cemetery.

His family made sure his death was not in vain. Congress honored him with H.R. 5649 The Navy SEAL Bill Mulder Transition Improvement Act of 2018 to fix how we bring our warriors home.

His story is why we must do better.
