Short sharp, reaction based warm up. Players pair up and Aim to tap their opponents knee to score a point, whilst avoiding being tapped themselves.

So tonight I did this with my U12s. Funniest warm up / team bonding exercise ever. I'd have filmed it but was stuggling not to laugh. Nice one, good core exercise without them even knowing. 😂
After a warm up, players have their team talk and will generally lose the benefits of their warm up
This activity I created utilises angled sprints, changing direction and a jump for height - mimicking game demands
Research shows that similar drills pre game can ⬆️ performance

The crossover between coaching and teaching: we always start with a team stretch around the centre circle where I model the stretches. This gives opportunity for conversations and building relationships

Core stability is a key attribute for footballers as it helps with balance, generating power, and helping with rotational movements.
Taking a break can help reduce this tolerance. Therefore if you are currently a keen coffee drinkers, try and take a break (~4 weeks) and see what effects pre exercise caffeine may have on your performance

Habitual caffeine use has also been assoc. with a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s, liver cancer and cirrhosis.
However habitual use will lead to a tolerance and therefore reduced benefits but with the continued potential negative effect on sleep.
