Asia, a continent that has never had a winner in the World Cup still has some brilliant footballing nations, producing many World Class footballers throughout the years with their football leagues producing some brilliant entertainment to those who like to venture outside of their usual leagues.
There are 9 nations from Asia competing in the World Cup, including Australia of course
Here are some Forgotten Football Clubs from each of those 9 nations. 🇦🇺🇮🇷🇮🇶🇯🇵🇯🇴🇶🇦🇸🇦🇺🇿
🇦🇺 Australia - Sydney Rovers
Formed in 2009, the club was supposed to represent Western Sydney in the A League, however the project never took off, despite club colours, a stadium and even a crest being assigned to the club. The reason was the club was declined entry to the A League and that was that.
🇮🇷 Iran - PAS Tehran FC
Formed in 1953 by the Iranian Police Force, the club had some success, most notably winning the Asian Club Championship in 1993. They folded in 2007, with PAS Hamedan forming to replace them.
🇮🇶 Iraq - Al Rasheed
Formed in 1983, the club folded in 1990, despite finishing 2nd in the Iraqi National league that season.
🇯🇵 Japan - Yokohama Flugels
Originally the company team of all Nippon Airways, and founded in 1964, they changed their name to Yokohama Flugels later on. They won six cups in their existence before dissolving in 1999
🇯🇴 Jordan - Amman SC
The original Amman SC was founded in 2007, but in 2021, they merged with Dar Al-Dawa, but kept the name Amman SC. They currently play in the second tier of Jordanian football.
🇶🇦 Qatar - Al-Jaish SC
Formed to compete in the Qatari Stars League in 2007, the club was dissolved in 2017, when it was absorbed into Al-Duhali SC, to create a 'Super Club'.
🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia - None
Due to the ownership model in Saudi Arabia, it is virtually impossible for a club to dissolve. It is one of the few, if not the only nation in the world not to have a Forgotten Football Club (That i know of)
🇺🇿 Uzbekistan - Traktor Tashkent
Founded in 1968, the club was a constant in the Uzbekistan top Division, even winning it once innl 1986. They also won the Uzbekistan Cup in 1975. The club folded in 2007 due to financial difficulties and sponsorship issues.
#NeverForget
Chief Resident !
The players who are absent for injury are Yazan Al-Naemat as a striker, Ali Olwan will play instead or even the 20 years old Ibrahim Sabra.
Essam Samiri & Adham Quraishi are absent also, Haddad & Badawi will be called instead.
Officially: Jordan squad for their first world cup ever!
26 players will travel to world cup, we will play Austria, Argentina & Algeria in group stages.
The last player is Mohammad Abu Ghoush, which is one of the best left backs in Jordan and a lot were excited to see him play with national team, but maybe next time after the world cup since he lacks the international experience.
🚨 #EXCLUSIVE
Japan & Saudi Arabia would have six clubs qualify for continental competition under the proposed new slot allocation for the AFC Champions League Elite & AFC Champions League Two.
The allocations will be confirmed by the Professional Football Committee on Friday.
Ibrahim Saadeh & Nour Al-Rawabdeh in the midfield. the later didn't play in Arab Cup but his replacement Amer Jamous was superb, will Al-Salami start Amer or Nour in the World Cup?
Mohammad Abu Hashish & Ahmed Assaf on the wings, was hoping to give Abu Ghoush the chance to play.
Jordan line up to face Costa Rica.
Jordan has a lot of absentee due to injury like Saed Al-Rosan, Issam Smeeri, Ehsan Haddad & Adham Al Quraishi, Ali Hajbi, Tammer Bany Odeh.
And most notably Ali Olwan & Yazan Al-Naemat.
Al-Salami starts with Baha'a Faisal in attack to replace Yazan, the veteran striker was our first choice striker before Al-Neamat but he suffered a lot with injures, now he gained confidence with 2nd division Qatari Al-Waab.
Musa Al-Tamari & Odeh Al-Fakhouri on the wings.
