Graham is serving out the remainder of her brother’s term after being appointed to the seat following his death. Now, she moves one step closer to keeping it.

Dolly Parton was privately battling cancer in the final days of her life.

Her representatives say the 80-year-old country music legend died following a "brief battle with cancer," revealing the diagnosis after her death. They did not disclose what type of cancer she had.

Just days before her death, Parton spoke about her recent health struggles, saying she was "still healin'" and determined to keep working.

“Our beloved Dolly Parton spent her life and career bringing joy, laughter, hope and integrity into everything she touched," her team said in a statement.
