A rare Day 3 High Risk for flash flooding (shaded in pink) has been issued from Sunday morning to Monday morning for over 600,000 people due to severe, widespread, and destructive flash flooding.

Many desert locations, including the Coachella Valley, could see 1-2 years' worth of rain in under 72 hours, the majority of which could fall in just a few hours' timespan.

If the extreme rainfall totals of 3-10 inches verify, major infrastructure loss, including washouts of roadways and bridges, will be possible.

Numerous flash flooding events will also be likely across areas shaded in red, including San Diego, Inland Empire, Orange County, and Las Vegas.

A further expansion of the high-risk zone (shaded in pink) is also possible, especially across SE CA deserts as we draw closer to the event.
