It always feels like the gaming community against the game devs. No matter what the game. I don’t like this but I’m not sure how to fix it.
As an ex-product manager we did “a voice of the customer” and then as a team we tackled the biggest pressing issues. I wish we had that for game development.
Often the players are the ones that have some really good feedback but it gets forgotten because of either pride on the devs side OR the feedback was brought in such a negative and threatening way. No one could receive it with any genuine faith.
I am of the opinion that MOST game devs want what’s best for their game and MOST players also want what’s best for the game. Finding a way to listen in both directions I think is important.
But… there comes a time where promises need to be kept.
IMO
The SoT servers are back online. The Chest of Fortune's location has been fixed, but crouching and disguises are temporarily disabled while a hotfix targeting high-impact issues is finalised. This video from Production Director Drew Stevens has the info: https://t.co/NCS51ZN17t
Really a shame SoT hides cool cosmetics behind hours of boring tall tale grind. Players who dont want to engage with boring and repetitive PvE content will never get to experience it
Skilled is Naval PVP, positioning, the wind, the wheel , the cannons, everything together. Press one key to canceling animations it's not skill in my honest opinion.
PvP balance in SoT was PEAK sometime during 2019-2021:
-Sword was 5 slashes to kill, and had many ways of cancelling animations to make it actually a semi-skilled option to use. Hit-boxes weren’t half a mile wide due to de-sync at this point.. so you had to be damn close to actually connect the hits
-Sword Blocking actually worked as intended for the most part.
-Double gunning was freshly balanced and was still a great option(this was the version of QS we had until half a year ago, or whenever tf it was removed). Although OG quickswap was still more fun to use lol
-Flintlock still hipfired straight and didn’t have a dumb aim cone if not ADSing.
-We had Arena 1.0 and Arena 2.0 during this time period. Both were better game modes than HG. (Nothing to do with balancing, but they were great game modes)
Needless to say it’s wild that over the last few years they’ve managed to gut a lot of the stuff that made their PvP feel fun and balanced. If I could rewind back to some time during 2019-2021 SoT I’d do it in a heartbeat.
An ominous orb warning has set destiny into place. Digging along all previously mentioned islands has begun. But what do the Reapers seek?

As a new season approaches, the Order of Souls has confided in a new card.
The skeleton rune/ancient glyph translated to DIG.
What secrets below must we dig?
