In South Korea, election information booklets and even voting eligibility can sometimes be assigned to individuals who do not actually reside at the registered address. According to these reports of alleged election irregularities, the individuals involved are, in many cases, Chinese nationals. In other words, multiple Chinese nationals are reportedly registered at the same address.
It is not possible to determine whether these individuals actually possess the legal right to vote or whether they ultimately cast ballots. However, it is entirely possible that such registrations could be exploited to inflate early voting figures or increase the number of fraudulent ballots.
The very possibility that large numbers of Chinese nationals registered as "ghost residents" could have been collectively involved in matters affecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Korea is deeply disturbing and unacceptable.
