After two long years, my time at Fresno State is finally ending. I'm sad that I have to go, as the knowledge I have gained and the friendships I made have helped me with my growth as a person. While one chapter ends, another opens. Thank you guys! Once a bulldog always a bulldog!
I had the amazing opportunity to produce for Fresno State Focus's 4th newscast! Being in charge of the newscast was a great challenge that taught me much about leading a team. Now that I have done it I plan to take those skills I learned with me after graduation! @FSFocusTV
@FSFocusTV is looking promising this semester! Right now we are going through bootcamp to give us a refresher on how we can each succeed as a reporter and you can just feel the passion in the classroom! @peacekim@FresnoStateCAH
For my long form feature story in #MCJ102W, I had the opportunity to write about my neighbor Larry Caruthers! He's a handyman who is 78 years old that enjoys helping others! While a lot of people would consider retiring at his age, he has no intention to stop doing what he loves.
This week in MCJ 124 I have the opportunity to do a live-shot! I am excited for this opportunity as I have learned so much since doing my first live shot when I took MCJ 126 over a year ago! I plan to be more interactive and talk with my hands.@peacekim@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH
Recently for MCJ 124 I got to build a news rundown. It opened my eyes on why its very important to make sure each story is properly timed and flows well with other stories. I feel confident for when I take Fresno State Focus next semester! @peacekim@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH
This week in #MCJ124 I had the chance to create a video package at the Fresno Vineyard. It was a great experience that allowed me to practice my stand-up as a reporter. I look forward to creating more in Fresno State Focus! @peacekim@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH
Last week I took the opportunity to go to the Fresno State Veterans Resource Center and learn directly from veterans about all the benefits they get through the VA. Overall, I feel I now have a better understanding of how veterans are being taken care of and what they still need!
This week in MCJ 124, I experimented with video sequencing and how to get multiple different shots to help tell a story. This clip is called the Bird-eye shot where you take a video of your subject from a high angle. #MCJ124@peacekim@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH@valleyanimal
When a student asks “May I try to…?” You say yes and connect the student. Look what that turned into!!! I’m so proud of @Joseph85069 who’s now published @TheCollegian https://t.co/0uMecmJJV2 @stormindgames
This week in MCJ 124 I learned to write a script to my video so the words match the picture. I also learned a technique called video logging that sets up a list of shots I want to include in a video with timestamps making editing easy. @peacekim#MCJ124@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH
Clovis Unified School District member Maiya Yang has decided to retire after five years of working as a general counsel member! She was given recognition by members of her district during a board meeting on Oct. 9 and delivered a heartfelt closing speech to her peers. #MCJ102W
This week I did a story about Fresno State campus squirrels that taught me how to write a voice-over to a video! It was an excellent learning experience going around to get different shots that went along with the story I wanted to tell! @peacekim#MCJ124@FSMCJDept#squirrel
This week I had the amazing opportunity to go with Professor Stephens to her job at Fox 26! Seeing her work firsthand was a great experience that showed me what I need to focus on to do well in the news industry! Thank you again so much! @peacekim#MCJ124@FSMCJDept@KMPHFOX26
Thank you Marco an amazing interview! I enjoyed learning about your passion for football and your love for the Raiders! This interview taught me why it's important to have a list of questions ready and why it is our job to just listen. @peacekim@FSMCJDept@FresnoMarquez#MCJ124
This week in MCJ 124 I learned all about how to set up shots for interviewing! When setting up an interview a good reporter will always research their topic beforehand so they know the right questions to ask! @peacekim#MCJ124@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH
The Nelson Mandela Monument is the newest addition to Fresno State's Peace Garden in over 18 years! On Sept. 12, attendees of the statue reveal got to hear Nelson Mandela's great-grandson Dr. Siyabulela discuss his grandfather and his impact on peace and human rights! #MCJ102W
This week in MCJ 124, I learned what the do's and don'ts are for broadcast writing. As journalists and reporters every word we say matters. That's why we have to make sure we get it right the first time! @peacekim#MCJ124@FSMCJDept@FresnoStateCAH
