It’s not that there’s no succession plan. It’s that the next generation of leaders don’t like people…yet. They’re still on the self-centered, self-absorbed, self-deserving side of life. In other words, they like themselves. And that’s ok. Tis’ the season. (Ecc. 3)
I can’t answer your succession planning questions because the under-shepherds of the future don’t really like people yet. They will. But not yet. They have to finish doing them…until it fails.
Self-promotional advocacy falls flat every time. You can smell it. I wonder if this is another occasion where it should be done in secret. You know. Like prayer.
I heard @TimAlberta use the phrase, “Within the Evangelical imagination…” on an episode of @FiringLineShow. That was helpful language for me to understand my own tribe and refrain from using a slur…like, “Evangelical.”
These days, I’m starting to hear scriptures in reverse. I’m hearing, “Because you have been faithful in the big things, I will bless you in the little things.” And that’s just fine with me. 😉
