Because public discourse is finally out there, this was actually the basis of the analytics project that kicked off my career in the field.
My partner (@ConnorAllen1995) and I found that the breakeven point was 79.86% in an exactly two-point game in 2016.
Nice to see Jason Kidd pioneering the foul-up-2 strategy. Based on my work with @JonathanSafir, if Zion's true FT skill is less than ~ 63% this would be a good move at the college level. (And a great move if you're in the single bonus.) https://t.co/vA5fpEJNdq
Talked to one person who survived the cuts today who said it feels like they just looked at a spreadsheet of salaries and cut the highest ones without any regard for what anyone does and how important they are.
Thomas Massie: "I vote with Republicans 91% of the time. And the 9% I don't, they're taking up for pedophiles, starting another war, or bankrupting our country."
An absolute mic drop. 🎤⬇️
These are international civilians, innocent of any crime, who have been illegally abducted in international waters by Israel. That’s what we’re looking at here.
There aren’t adequate words to properly express the depth and scale of trump’s corruption, it’s completely on a scale of its own with no historical equivalent to point to.
Really though, when did posting a mild liberal take on social media start counting as activism??? “Be nice to immigrants!” I’m literally begging you to log off.
Obviously not rooting for this, but it’s pretty unwise for the league to “name the price” for aggressive action against their 7’4” upcoming face of the league. This is going to lead to further animosity this series, chip has already been chippy.
Forget poor taste, this is dumb.
There will be no further discipline for Spurs star Victor Wembanyama after he was ejected for elbowing Naz Reid in Minnesota on Sunday night, sources tell ESPN. No suspension, no fine. Wembanyama will play in Game 5 against the Timberwolves on Tuesday night in San Antonio.
Sports fandom is crazy, dude fully looked at his opponent and swung his elbow at his neck & people on the TL talking about “he’s been getting fouled”
Like, basketball is a game where emotions are supposed to be heightened, and I would prefer to see a scrap here and there than never at all.
But that’s a deliberate action that has a non-zero chance of literally killing somebody… we kinda need to start from there on this.
I really hate to say it… but Wemby kinda needs to be suspended for multiple games.
He comes to a total stop, and then throws a really nasty elbow right into Naz Reid’s larynx.
I hope this is a one-time sorta thing, because I really love his game, but that’s insanely dangerous.
@bennymac2186873 I mean, yes, and no...
My job is to maximize dollars for my clients.
For a guy who really never cared much, $175 million is a great outcome for him personally.
That being said, he's probably a ~$700-900 million guy over the course of his career if he would've had total buy-in.
I worked with one of his Arizona teammates. For PnR tracking, I used to only have 3 variables for the screener Roll, Pop, and Slip.
Ayton invented a new variable: "None."
If one stood still, but opened up and tracked the ball, that's a pop... Ayton just stood there, hands down.
A fun fact about John Brown is how many primary sources were written by his ideological enemies disputing the propaganda that he was a deranged lunatic because they talked to him and universally found him calm and reasonable
@bobbydbobster Also, I never worked for him at any point. Guys who I work with I will always spare naming if relaying anecdotes that aren’t anything but 100% positive.
@bobbydbobster You’re joking, right? The guy has been paid $175+ million to give this level of effort consistently over the course of his NBA career. This anecdote from about 10 years ago is absolutely fair game, it will not affect anything in his career and I’ve sat on it as it has played out.
