UK airline Eastern Airways is fighting to stay in the air after it sought court protection from creditors, according to two sources.
The regional airline has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators to its two major trading subsidiaries, Eastern Airways (UK) and Air Kilroe. Accounts for the two businesses showed they employed around 250 people and generated combined annual revenues of £60m in 2024.
The airline is headquartered at Humberside Airport in North Lincolnshire and serves 1.3m passengers a year flying routes from London Gatwick, London Southend, Teesside, Newquay, Jersey, Aberdeen and Wick.
The airline also operates government-subsidised public service obligation (PSO) routes, in addition to contracts with KLM Cityhopper and commercial charters.
Last week the airline was forced to cancel a flight amid rumours of routes being pulled.
Eastern Airways has operated since 1997 and it expanded its operations to include domestic, international, and charter flights, with hubs at Humberside and Aberdeen.

This footage clearly shows the Air India 787 stalling. Allegations of features historically not working in the passenger cabin are irrelevant to the seconds before the stall. On first look, the configuration of the aircraft (flap positions) and lack of gear up isn't promising.
Video footage shows an Air India passenger plane losing height shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad then crashing into a neighbourhood near the city’s main airport.
More than 200 people were on board and there are fears of yet more casualties on the ground.
Most flights are diverting out of Pakistani airspace. Reuters is reporting loud explosions have been heard in Pakistani Kashmir. https://t.co/Jif694lFKJ

The worst part about this is that @Official_PIA were offered consultancy on their marketing & communications for FREE long in advance of this. I discussed it with PIA's relevant General Managers in person, in Karachi and with Pakistan's @AviMinistry Secretary in Islamabad in 2023
Have you ever wondered how close airplanes actually fly to one another?
All airliners follow invisible "highways in the sky" known as airways, which are pre-determined flight routes designed to manage traffic efficiently. These airways help pilots and air traffic controllers guide planes safely through the sky, similar to how cars follow roads on the ground.
Despite looking like planes are flying close to one another, there's actually a lot of space between them.
Air traffic controllers use advanced systems to maintain safe distances vertically and horizontally. Aircraft are often separated by at least a thousand feet in altitude or miles apart laterally.
This system ensures that even in busy skies, planes can travel safely without the risk of collisions, allowing for smooth and coordinated air travel around the world.

Totally unacceptable. I hope @MercedesBenz@MercedesBenzUSA intervene and send the autistic child an emblem to enjoy at his leisure. Initial frustration in ignorance (of his disability) is understandable but does not justify assaulting the poor boy.
Becoming seasonal on Sky is a pioneering move that reflects viewer trends and increases efficiency in the revenue model. I'm hopeful the sector will follow suit. With such achievements it now feels the right time to move on and I will therefore be leaving my post in July [3 of 3]
