Very happy the cat was rescued, but I’m sorry: “The cat got into the ceiling”?! How?!? Nobody in the QTs or replies is acknowledging this and I feel like I can’t be the only person wondering lol
Firefighters from Station 36 had their work cut out for them today when they spent 1.5 hours trying to locate a family cat that had been missing for 3 days in the 1800 block of Thornecrest St.
The cat got into the ceiling 3 days ago but, through the use of a thermal imaging camera, Firefighters were able to determine that the cat fell down a shaft and was at the bottom of a wall near the front door.
The cat was safely extricated and there will be some minor drywall repairs to be done.🐱🚒
@AriaAber Not sure about ‘best’ in the sense you’re going for, but this has stayed with me even though I read it years ago: “In this manner, the issue was decided.” from Raymond Carver’s “Popular Mechanics”. (I get squeamish even thinking about it.)
@Devin_Heroux Thank you for your coverage, Devin! As a Canadian living abroad, I really appreciated your updates - easily the highlights of my days the past two weeks!
@echoey13 I agree pre-conceived ideas may contribute to difficulties (the pre-supposed “hardness” of the class, a reliance on memorization). With this in mind, I think the teacher’s role is to provide all students with their expectations and the tools for successfully meeting them.
@AxelBlaster In Dr. Fiss’s case, it is. The McGill Charter of Students’ Rights: “The University makes every reasonable effort to provide an appropriate environment for learning and assessment activities…including the provision of safe and suitable conditions for learning and study.”
Stipends for graduate students in Canada have not risen for 20 years. Almost 90% of graduate students say they experience financial stress, according to a survey by @OttawaSciPolNet. Almost a third have considered leaving their studies due to finances.
