The thing to understand about modern congressional politics is that the market/economic situation would have to deteriorate so significantly from where it is for the Republican controlled Hill to do anything to reverse Trump on tariffs.

It's interesting trivia that a dozen or so Republicans have signaled interest in a bill to overrule Trump on tariffs. But a discharge petition is operative in late June, most likely. It's early April. Johnson will not put that bill on the floor, he has said.

2/3 to overrule Trump on a veto. Which means 20 Senate Republicans and 77 House Republicans.

This is a Republican Congress that is so loyal to Trump that they are willing to give him almost unlimited time to achieve his goals because they think he knows preicely what he's doing and everything is going to plan.

Yes, ~45 percent of rental units in NYC are rent-stabilized.

But a few things to keep in mind: the vacancy rate for rent-stabilized units is ~1 percent; not all rent-stabilized units are charging sharply below-market rents (think the outer boroughs); tenure for rent-stabilized units is much higher than for market-rate (~3x); most of the turnover that does take place is in the relatively high-rent 421a new-build units, so not exactly the bargains documented below; and tenants in sharply below-market units can use succession rights to ensure the units never turn over to outsiders.

So yes, if you’re a newcomer to the NYC housing market who lands in a sharply below-market rent-stabilized unit, you’ve absolutely lucked into something rare and special. This is especially true if you managed to avoid paying key money, you don’t have a pre-existing personal connection to the landlord, etc.

The WSJ could absolutely publish mini-profiles of each of these people, and it would be a fruitful exercise.

This account is run by Jennica Pounds, the person who was posing as an independent journalist and then got outed as a Department of War employee when she moronically fumbled a scoop that a State Department official tried to give her. And now she's building a database to track American citizens based on party affiliation. This is a special government employee creating tools that will be used to intimidate the public and go after dissenters under the pretext of fighting a domestic terror threat--and she's promoting it while also shilling her forthcoming book. There has got to be accountability for these people at some point. Democrats are simply not serious if people like Pounds can just skate after everything is said and done. Everyone in her orbit should at some point be placed under a microscope.
