Oregon, Massachusetts, Illinois, NC, Maine & Connecticut; possibly Washington are skipping the Great American State Fair!

Why?

Federal NEH (National Endowment for the Humanities) funding cuts in 2025.
NEH provides formula grants to every state’s Humanities Council, roughly $65 million nationally per year pre-cuts.

Several Democratic-led states have officially declined to send state government delegations or fund official exhibits for the Great American State Fair.

Primary reasons:
High costs, citing their Federal NEH grants were cut in 2025.

Let's review what these states used the majority of that funding for pre-cuts...

"Contemporary/social topics":
Grants for LGBTQ+ programming (Pride Center events & other Pride-related humanities activities), DEI/inclusion initiatives, immigrant stories, racial equity projects, & community storytelling.

Bottom line:
A shift occurred, previous funding included more DEI/LGBTQ+ aligned programming that the administration viewed as misaligned with core humanities (American history, heritage, Western civ). The cuts were a deliberate reprioritization, not random austerity.

The 2025 NEH grant terminations (via DOGE) explicitly prioritized removing projects flagged for DEI/DEIA content, "environmental justice," or topics seen as not aligning with the administration's view of core American heritage & Western civilization. 👏🇺🇸

These councils use the money (often 30-90% of their budgets) for public programs, events, exhibits, & grants. Larger states receive millions annually.

Much of it went to "contemporary/social" topics:
🔴LGBTQ+ programming Pride Center events
🔴Queer Black History projects
🔴DEI & inclusion initiatives
🔴Racial equity projects
🔴Immigrant stories & experiences
🔴Community storytelling
🔴Rural queer histories
🔴Belonging conversations
🔴Racial justice
🔴Immigration narratives.

In 2025, the Trump administration + DOGE actions canceled or paused many of these grants, shifting priorities away from DEI/gender/identity-focused content.

This left several councils with major shortfalls, forcing program cuts & emergency private fundraising.

Result:
These states publicly opted out of participating in the Great American State Fair.

This highlights the real corruption; taxpayer-funded humanities grants were heavily directed toward specific ideological topics & indoctrination. This does not even take into account the fraud waste & abuse! 💥

How do you think the people of these states feel about blowing all their Federal Grant money that was to be used towards educational events, all blown on endocrinology!

So much so that they choose to opt out of a once in a lifetime celebration of our great Nation! ⏰
