@ThomBrady5 Peer-reviewed research, including a 2022 PNAS study, shows over 90% of Americans born 1951-1980 had elevated childhood blood lead levels from leaded gasoline, resulting in population-wide IQ losses averaging 2.6 points and up to 5.9 points for mid-1960s cohorts.
@ThomBrady5 Boomers have measurable degrees of mental retardation from lead exposure. It’s why they can’t actually engage on the debate level with solutions they just turn into retarded Hulk Hogan and start threatening: “LISTEN HERE BROTHER!”
Usually I agree with you and I’m a staunch Republican but if you take away my Social Security I’m a Democrat for the first time in my life. I spent my entire life planning for retirement with Social Security a major part of it and paid into the systems as a young person so that the older generation could have some support
I’ll make a deal with you, pay me back every penny I put into it and every penny my employers put into it on my behalf at 5% interest and you can take away the monthly checks.
@ThomBrady5 I paid in over 200k . Give me that money plus the interest I would have had from that money invested in a s and p 500 index fund, which is precisely what I would have done with the money if it hadn't been taken from me by the government.
Tired of this excuse. First of all, social security is not something you “pay into.” If it were, you wouldn’t need younger people to “pay into it” in order to get your check. But you do. Because this is a Ponzi scheme, not a retirement account. What you really mean to say is that your money was stolen from you — which it was — and now you want to steal from younger people to get restitution. That’s the actual case you’re making and it’s exactly as morally deranged as it sounds.
Second, your generation continually for decades voted for politicians who would keep the scheme going. You might not have invented social security, but you damn sure made certain it kept going. Why should younger people have to pay the price for the shitty policies you supported?
Third, you “paid into” social security in a different time. The country is now bankrupted and 40 trillion dollars in debt, and basic things like housing are prohibitively expensive. It wasn’t like that when you were young, because your generation of leadership created this problem.
So the theme here is that there are a bunch of problems you guys either created or contributed to. You can choose to pay the price for that now, or force your grandchildren to pay the price so you can live comfortably until you die and leave them holding the bag. You’ve chosen the latter, and I think that’s wrong. Simple as that.
@molmccann Absolute retard take. If you need a middle manager monitoring you then you are an incapable child. No one needs to drive their laptop to a separate building to take remote calls
