Excited to kick off the 6th annual Youth Voices Forum on Mental Health. 85 students from area high schools are joining us today! Time to get the panel portion started!
Last week, @waubonsee staff visited to share Career and Technical Education Program information with K-12 district staff that work with our Alternative Learning Opportunities Program and Regional Safe Schools Program.
Thanks for highlighting your potential pathways for students!

So if you are from Illinois and make Team USA, they will be deemed ineligible to participate in IHSA? They certainly keep score in those games.
Last year, the great state of Illinois produced more high school draft picks than any state in the country (10). Think they would've been drafted if they didn't participate in what are deemed "all-star game events."
Players are receiving million dollar signing bonuses by participating in USA Baseball, @prepbaseball, MLB & PG All-American Games, East Coast Pro, Area Code Games, Future Games, etc.
To put down a blanket rule (in the middle of the summer when everything is happening) because city basketball in Chicago has no boundaries makes no sense. It's lazy, actually. Every sport is different.
Make the Area Code games and play with the best 150 kids in the nation? Sorry, you can’t play for your HS team in the spring. This is just plain wrong.
547 schools passed a bylaw stating IL HS athletes are not able to participate in “all-star” teams if they want to maintain eligibility. This includes games in the summer. How do I look at an athlete I coached and tell them they are now ineligible because they played for team USA?
It’s unfortunate, but @IHSA_IL just killed high school baseball in Illinois. It’s sad. I have lots of good friends who are HS coaches, and no one has been more committed to covering spring baseball than I over the course of 19 years.
But any aspirational baseball player will NEVER play baseball for its HS ever again if this rule isn’t changed. Why would they? With the college transfer portal, the plight of the HS player getting recruited has become infinitely more difficult, and this makes it nearly impossible for IL players.
USA National Team. Area Code Games. Future Games. PG. NTIS. Basically any formalized game of status is illegal. Common sense needs to prevail.
If it doesn’t, though, travel teams will unite, @PrepBaseballIL & @PBRTournaments will put together leagues & tournaments at high-level venues across the state, utilizing our full media, data collection and scouting apparatus to put on the best high school baseball experience, bar none.
I don’t want that to happen. But it will, if this isn’t changed.
Play on this summer.
