Even if the UK is the only country in the world supporting Ukraine, we should keep supporting them.
They are on the front line of our defence. Their sons and daughters are fighting and dying for our freedom.
We should be thanking them.
Liberal politicians do not understand this. They have no way to understand and connect with the reality of falling living standards.
So they see GDP growth rates and stock market returns and pat themselves on the back. At election time, they repeat ‘we just need more’.
All over the rich world, people’s lives are getting worse.
It’s harder to afford the basics, keep a roof over your head, and access care when you’re sick.
People will keep voting for whoever they think will bring back prosperity. 1/
Tens of thousands of people are streaming into Hero’s Square from the demonstration outside parliament, to reinforce the smaller group of beleaguered protesters who were facing arrest.

Summer 2022 me and my brother walked 1000 kilometres across Kyrgyzstan through the mountains. Heading off into the hills for a week at a time, carrying steaks and honey. We got attacked by a herd of cows, got in a fist fight with locals who tried to rob us, drank fermented horse milk with apricot jam with herdsman in the valleys. When we made it to towns we’d eat ice cream and shashlik. It’s one of the most pristine countries I’ve ever been to, and the enervating effect of months at altitude had me living with such vitality that I had to go back in 2023.
My heart goes out to Alexei Navalny and his family. A visionary leader who knew what it would take to bring down Putin, and a braver man than most. Another victim murdered by Russia's fascist state.
#breaking — I cannot believe it. Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny is reported dead by prison authorities.
Heartbroken for his family and team. They have not confirmed the news yet.
