"14 What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."
@squeezeme__@craftreed227@Verdrehen1@Jahane69675135@Aradia_Sama oh small thing thats bothering me, The catholic church is the oldest currently operating institution on earth. you said something along the lines of beliefs holding up in a room full of rational people, the church has held out longer than most nations.
the church has been around 2000 years, and you're upset there have been dark times? The broad message of Christianity is to sacrifice yourself for others, love others as you love yourself, do good for the sake of good, reject evil(harmful) impulses in your mind and heart. What would your gold standard be?
@squeezeme__@craftreed227@Verdrehen1@Jahane69675135@Aradia_Sama It sounds like you're describing Christianity. home to the oldest human institution on earth (the catholic church), minimizes harm, maximizes growth. Emphasizes inherent human flaws and humility, goes against lower natural human instincts for the sake of a collective.
it does follow that if you don't accept the premise of an elevated state of and essence of being which embodies all good (God), that objective morality also wouldn't exist it would lead to moral nihilism, which it seems might be contradictory to your perspective of leaving the world better than you left it, as moral nihilism is inherently chaotic.
God is not necessarily external, God is also internal. Even if we ignore theology for a moment, the Christian ethos is a reflection of the individual structuring that allows for the building of lasting genuine bonds and connections, not just on the personal level but also societally.
The broad overview of Christian theology is the prioritization of God and the things God loves, such as charity, truth, justice, humility ect. Satan is a direct opposite of that, if you worship a being whose priority is is pride, selfish gain, and rebellion, its not that different from just worshiping yourself, its essentially just imitation.
@squeezeme__@Aradia_Sama@Verdrehen1 honestly, the best play for a ultimate metaphysical evil is for it to convince everyone it doesn't exist. Instead of resisting or questioning it, you arent even aware of it.
@elishaexo1234@SamPhelps448922@MattWalshBlog selfish is you taking the pleasure of the bodily action of making life, then destroying that life instead of taking responsibility for it. If you don't want it, don't do it.
@DizneyX@crazycopvideos and the one time that happens, the perpetrator gets away, steals a car, and speeds down a busy highway endangering the lives of others and wrecks the car.
@JustToroh@bgone_b@newblueblurarts our understanding is miniscule, that is exactly correct. but it is existant, and we confer information amongst eachother.
@CliffParent@PenitentPond@Catholic_Mind@grok the ceremonial laws specifically are fulfilled by Christ, who then emphasizes to embody in the heart what the intent of the law was, as the law itself was a poor imitation of what was meant to be contained by the heart, and the standard of God.
