@CchristmColleen This is a classic "grand tour" question ethnographers (and others trained in qualitative methods) are taught to use on Day One. It could be useful not just in hospitals settings, but in *any* clinical interaction. Sadly, that's not how we have structured our medical systems.
No idea what Manolo De Los Santos feels about Jews/Judaism. I do know this is antisemitic: "When the state of Israel is finally destroyed and erased from history, that will be the single most important blow that we can give to global capital and to imperialism in our lifetime."
@DesiMango@sameralatout This is more or less in line with historical norms — the evidence of the maniacal killing spree lies elsewhere. It has to stop. Misinformation and denialism don’t help.
@pelican151@IramiOF I’m pretty sure it’s not a good idea to use Islamophobia to justify antisemitism, or to criticize Islamophobia while justifying antisemitism. YMMV.
@IramiOF I’m honestly not sure which Jews don’t admit this. Either they have no problem with it, because they’re avid Zionists, or they do, because not avid Zionists, or Zionists at all.
@TaliaRinger Even annoyed, if I carried a sign denigrating Christianity into the meeting and held it up, I wouldn't be disrupting a peaceful Christmas celebration. and I would object to such description. I'd be disrupting a city-council meeting with a nasty sign. (And I should be better.)
@TaliaRinger Put differently: I'd be annoyed if, to get into my city council meeting, I first had to decline a candy cane from folks singing "Silent Night." (I'd get over it, but I'd be annoyed.)

You don’t have to agree with it (or me). I don’t agree with everything they publish.
I wish they'd do more work of the sort Daniel links to — and better, though I found his piece on shiva compelling.
@ZacharyBraiterm@JewishCurrents @YehudaKurtzer I guess I don't know what "the liberal center holding" looks like enough to (dis)agree. It's been 2 months. What happens when Biden keeps criticizing Israel's "indiscriminate bombing," or just 3 months from now? I don't know.
I worry, though, about whom & what we'll have lost.
@ZacharyBraiterm@JewishCurrents @YehudaKurtzer Thanks. I appreciate that. I hope you know there are very few (if any) folks besides you I'd engage with on this in this way, especially on this godforsaken platform. I mean that seriously, too.
@ZacharyBraiterm@JewishCurrents @YehudaKurtzer Completely agree. What I am seeing, to my further horror, are choices by the messy mainstream to join its tent(s) to the right and religious right while shoving the left (and whatever passes for a religious left) away and even out altogether.
@ZacharyBraiterm@JewishCurrents @YehudaKurtzer Yes: the Jews here and everywhere are stuck with me. (And Jewish Currents.) And I'm stuck with them. I wish we could see that as desirable and productive and worth engaging with, instead of a goad to drawing red lines and policing big tents.
@ZacharyBraiterm@JewishCurrents @YehudaKurtzer Also: I consider that shaliach a good friend. We drank beer & had four-hour talks about Zionism & the NBA. I wish the leaders in my shul (& Yehuda an&d whoever else needs to) would take *that* as a model for tents. No coincidence it was the religious-Zionist Israeli modeling it.
