@DanieIEmery It's our midfield that is the issue. Currently it's not helping defensively or offensively due to a lack of defensive minded pivot. We've had nothing since Tetts or Skipp.
As poor as our defending has been it's not due to a lack of ability. It's systemic dysfunction.
@davefreezer I actually disagree on this. The way the team is set up asks so much of Duffy & McLean to be proactive and aggressive defensively in the absence of a CDM.
Without a CDM our system is totally imbalanced and disjointed in midfield, making good players look hapless all over.
@cjsouthwell1902 I respectfully disagree. Krul brings leadership and the ability to be a goalkeeper. Angus is better with his feet, granted, but an inferior GK in terms of shot stopping and organizational skills.
@Klobo15 You and me both. Almost like there's too many places to aim at with gripes in a weird way. I find myself wondering how it all unravelled so quickly. Pre-covid it all felt so good.
@Klobo15 Oh so you're griping at the players? I agree with that too tbf. But also lament the poor coaching for leaving few options consistently to progress the ball from the back.
We're in a very, very odd place right now.
@Klobo15 For clarity when I say disconnected I mean between team units and not the fans. The defence has possession the options are limited. When the midfield have it they're on instinct rather than any learned patterns. As for the attack, sadly they're left to press and that's about it .
@Klobo15 There's patient and there's aimless. I'm all in for patient however having now watched 50 Smith games I couldn't tell you what our plan is on the ball. It all feels disconnected.
