Thanks to The Massachusetts Comission for the Blind for giving me a chance to talk about #inclusion and my #AssistiveTechnology research. https://t.co/3PTifBIYLK
Much thanks to #accessibility features of @Google who have designed @Android inclusively so I can write songs in Braille with the @Humanware BrailleNote Touch and a phone using Talkback to dictate. Without these tools, I could not write, and traveling would be hard without GPS!
All this talk of telemedicine, telecommuting, telelearning.
It's as though ABLE-BODIED PEOPLE LOVE ACCESSIBILITY!
Remember how wonderful it is to have options when you can't leave your home. Become allies to make some of these changes permanent.
There are an estimated one billion people worldwide with a #Disability, many of whom have a disability that’s not readily apparent.
Three senior leaders at @Microsoft share their disabilities to help others understand different perspectives. #NDEAM https://t.co/b32qH9RMLZ
How would you translate this accessible map technology into mobile gps apps? How would you enable keyboard functionality so that it does not affect native screen-reader commands? #id24#id24umass
How do you account for nonverbal chefs who would need cooking instructions repeated? Does your microwave work with switch control or eye-tracking tech? #id24
#A11y should be built into every corner of our society, espcecially in this modern world. If it's built proactively, everybody can benefit from #inclusivedesign instantaneously and on an equal playingfield. #id24#id24umass
@UMass_ATC@HabenGirma Thanks to @Airaio for designing a service and product which has opened my life in so many ways I never would have dreamed possible, and for @Applefor serving as a blueprint as to what can be accomplished when a company truly values #A11Y#30dayaccess
#30DayAccess Action #2: Why does access matter to people with and without disabilities? Check out @HabenGirma's talk: https://t.co/ETC7zC750O. Tell us how tech innovations have helped you in your life & tag one company you want to thank for being inclusive/inspiring to you!
@UMass_ATC@HabenGirma AT has enabled me to live an equal life to able-bodied peers and colleagues. It has granted me a level of independence and the confidence to work hard and a means to educate others on its importance in the lives of PWD's. It's the gift that keeps on giving! #30DayAccess
How can we change society's view of disability from a negative aspect of someone's life or a challenge that must be overcome into a positive fascet of who they are? #30dayaccess
#Axschat A6 We need to find the #teachablemoment for each developer or entrepenure. Why do they want to design accessibly? Show them what life is like without #a11y, and then how #innovative products enhance a person's quality of life.
