Always remember my parents telling me how impressive and fun the Bicentennial was (since both lived in the Philadelphia area, it was even more grand).

I'd always hoped that the 250th anniversary of America would be just as big a celebration as the 200th and that I would finally see and experience the same things they (and every other living, cognizant American) had back in 1976.

Sadly, it looks like that's not going to be the case.
