An enormous thank you to the @TheRMH research funding program, the donors and funders for their very generous support. Very grateful for this fellowship, which significantly contributes to addressing this important patient group in our genomic medicine services.
Very excited to share this!!!

All welcome! No exp necessary.
Thank you @UniMelb MGC for their generous grant to fund this opportunity.

Thank you @GCAustralasia & @LEForrest for creating a brilliant space to celebrate our diverse & inclusive local practice 🤎. So many talented GCs thinking BIG & doing “better”as @J9_Austin shared - “do the best you can until you know better. Then, when you know better, do better.”
Wishing all my Australian colleagues a very happy #GCAD2023! We have a unique and privileged role in healthcare to give voice to the unheard - especially those individuals living with mental illness. For me, this is the most rewarding part of my job 🧁🧬🧠 @GCAustralasia
This panel on intersectionality is absolutely incredible. No amount of tweeting (X’ing?) can effectively communicate the heartbeat of the panel. Thank you to those who agreed to be a part of this.
#GeneChat#NSGC23
Absolutely loved the Professional Issues Panel: How to “Widen the Frame” and Bring Intersectionality to Genetic Counseling Practice. Incredibly inspiring and thought provoking #NSGC23
Incredibly grateful to be awarded a clinical services grant from @UniMelb MGC program to improve local practice in psychiatric genetic counselling along with the very wonderful @JoshSchultz16 for his work in implicit bias. Watch this space in 2024 as we create more opportunities.
I will be travelling to Canada to attain knowledge and experience in psychiatric genetics to improve patient care and quality of service at @TheRMH
I could not have done this without the significant support of @TheRMH J L Frew Travelling Fellowship.
We are making a difference!
Did you know?
You can refer patients with a personal and/or family history of psychiatric illness to @TheRMH for genetic counselling.
Genetic counsellors help people understand the cause of their illness.

Welcome to the first Research Thursday of 2023! Tonight we're sharing this thread from @_Steph__White_ about a new paper from her PhD research into genomics in the palliative care setting, an important look into existing policies and where change could help families and providers
It is well known that #BRCA1 & #BRCA2 genes increase the risk of ovarian and breast #cancer but there are many more inherited genes responsible for cancer. @LEForrest and A/Prof Paul James from @PeterMacCC discuss the impact and how research is helping address this. listen below
🚨New paper alert 🚨 DOI:10.1159/000527963
While our previous work explored health professionals' views about intergating genetics into palliative care, here we examined the policy environment📜
Spoiler: only 3% of policies included a recommendation about genetics in PC 1/
There’s nothing quite like collaborating with a super motivated #geneticcounselor who knows there’s a gap in our practice and gathers the evidence to start addressing it.
