Great paper from @PepsMccrea@Josh_CPD & @Barker_J.
Key phrase: Embrace Cognitive Similarity
“While every student brings unique experiences, strengths, and needs to the classroom, understanding the fundamental similarities in how we all learn provides a powerful foundation for inclusive teaching. This principle recognizes that the core mental processes involved in learning—how we pay attention, process information, and build understanding—are remarkably consistent across individuals. In short, how we learn is more similar than it is different (Willingham, 2012). Focusing on these shared mechanisms doesn't ignore individual differences; rather, it allows us to design core instruction that is effective for the widest possible range of students from the start.”

Last year we set about capturing great coaches in action. Why?
Because there just aren’t enough models of great coaching out there. And, if you don’t know what you’re aiming for, it’s extremely hard to get there.
If you’re learning to coach with Steplab, this is the course for you!
With huge thank you to those who let us film them for this course! Including @catnew86@mradamkohlbeck@Anyarthomas@sarah1daniel and many others!

This is a really good blog from
@mradamkohlbeck
following on from our #bookmarkMonday post yesterday, which featured
@adamboxer1
blog on Instructional Coaching. (All the Adams!) Adam K, provides some excellent considerations and practical tips on how to mitigate against the challenges of implementing effective IC. Personally, I really liked this simple statement which, ultimately, is the goal of every school leader: Instructional coaching is one teacher working with another to get a bit better at teaching continuously (definition from Josh Goodrich)We all agree with that! Also, what a joy to be able to join in with a professional conversation on a really important subject. ☺️

Just before Christmas, after 4 years, I finished my next book, Improving Teaching. It synthesises what I've learned in almost 15 years leading and studying professional development.
To end 2025, and as a heartfelt thank you, I'll share the acknowledgements...
It's here!
You know the teacher on the cover of Teach Like a Champion?
That’s Denarius Frazier—and he has a lot to say about how to build classrooms that run like clockwork.

@RajEcon@BradleyKBusch@adamboxer1 But, interested in what you do Raj. I'm not being critical of your work specifically, certainly not before seeing what you come up with!
@RajEcon@BradleyKBusch@adamboxer1 I think my other issue is that AI can only 'listen to' the script. It can't watch the video. So the data is radically limited. It can't see student work, can't look at students, can't look at the teacher etc., I really struggle to see how it can help in any real way.
