Bigelow's own shuts the door for #UCA against Austin Peay to become the saves record holder.
I asked Coach Harlan about his impact as he drew close to the record ⬇️:
Shout out to @att and their sorry-ass subcontractor who bored through the sewer line while running fiber. Now I’ve got not only a jacked up line, but a fat plumbing bill to go with it. Y’all gonna come fix this shit @ATTHelp?
CDR was CUSA POY and a 1st team AA - could make an argument Rose wasn’t the best player that season.
But even if he was - being on a runner-up doesn’t have much relevance in comparing two individuals. That’s a team accomplishment.
Jarrett Jack was the best player on an NCAA runner-up. Does that make him better than Stephon Marbury?
Rose was great, but not so great that it’s blasphemy to think Acuff is having a better freshman year. 24.8ppg, 6.6apg, 3:1 A/TO, 49.2/43.3/82.6 in SEC vs 13.3, 4.2, 1.75:1, 45.0/28.9/71.0 in CUSA doesn’t exactly seem like a landslide for the 2nd guy.
I wonder how often in 1982 people said “Michael Jordan is the best player Dean Smith has ever had” only to be scoffed at and met with “Bob McAdoo existed.”
I saw a lot of this over the weekend. “Darius Acuff is the best freshman guard Calipari ever coached.” Acuff is awesome and I know we as a society have the collective attention span of a flea. But Derrick Rose existed.
Did you speak to everyone who watched a UNC game that season? There might have been someone who saw some potential there and uttered such ludicrous things.
But your last sentence there is part of the point. Derrick Rose as we know him today didn’t become “Derrick Rose” until his time in the NBA.
If we’re talking strictly Rose’s production in his year at Memphis, it is pretty wild to dismiss the Acuff praise.
It is finally the big moment for @UCAMBB in year 20 of the DI era. In a year where the program has reached unprecedented heights, the Bears find themselves 40 minutes from finishing the ascent. The summit is of course a conference championship and an @MarchMadnessMBB appearance. Regardless of the outcome today, it has been an honor to tell the story of this little team that has shown it can, in fact, climb.

Never a doubt.
Orchestrated the biggest turnaround in ASUN conference history – going from 4 conference wins to 15 (and 3 points away from 18-0) after having to replace 87% of scoring and 83% of minutes from last year.
Took a program that finished 10th last year, was picked 8th/11th in the league’s preseason polls this year … and turned it into a 20 wins, 15-3 in the ASUN, a league championship and the No. 1 seed in the conference tourney.
Pretty good start to the season. Looking forward to the finish.
