The loud cheers when @LindaMwananchi_ principal @paulinenjoroge mentioned some characters are mocking @edwinsifuna saying he has no money to dish out & it's only because he's not a thief of taxpayer money like them & we the people will fund his campaign🔥🙌🏽✊🏽🇰🇪 #SisiNdioSifuna
White smoke is beginning to billow from Western Kenya.
During a press briefing today, following a strategy meeting held at the home of Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, Luhya leaders allied to Linda Mwananchi announced a political roadmap for Western Kenya ahead of the 2027 General Election.
As part of that roadmap, they announced that a new political party will soon be unveiled to carry the movement’s vision.
Governor Natembeya announced that the roadmap will begin with a major Linda Mwananchi rally in Trans Nzoia on 25th July, followed by the mother of all rallies in Bungoma County on 26th July, where Edwin Sifuna will be crowned the Luhya leader before being released to focus on his national campaign.
Further, Natembeya said he will thereafter lead political engagements across all 38 constituencies in Western Kenya in his capacity as the coordinator of the movement’s political activities in Sifuna’s Mulembe backyard.
The leaders present also declared Sifuna as their 2027 presidential candidate.
There are some qualities of @edwinsifuna’s leadership that stand out, and from which we have so much to learn… conviction, consistency, moral grounding and empathy.
These are qualities that have become increasingly rare in politics, yet history reminds us that they are the traits that distinguish great leaders.
Today I have seen many GOK-affiliated accounts mention our presidential candidate, Sifuna, repeatedly and somehow burden him with the responsibility of solving every problem facing Kenyans, including the murders committed by this regime!
We get it.
It is easier to demand solutions from the opposition when those in government have run out of solutions, run out of excuses, and seem to lack any clear blueprint on how to manage and run this country. Even some of their own supporters are running out of reasons to defend them.
Our challenge to Kenyans is simple: give Sifuna your votes and make him President, then judge him on delivery.
For now, he remains a Senator, and there is only so much a Senator can do, even with the best intentions. Yet time and again he has demonstrated that he will stand with the people when it matters most.
He showed this on June 25th, 2024, when he stood between Kenyans and the bullets.
And perhaps the saddest reflection of where our country is today is that one of the most powerful promises a leader can make to Kenyans is this:
"Can I just promise that I will not kill your children?"
That promise should not be extraordinary. It should be the bare minimum expected of any government.
Yet it resonates because of what happened on June 25th.
That is why we commemorated this day. To remember the young Kenyans who lost their lives. To stand with their families. To demand accountability. And to ensure that their memories are never erased from our national conscience.
June 25th was about the fallen comrades, their families, and a nation saying that their lives mattered.
