Redcar Town left it late at a windswept Neeform Stadium, with skipper Craig Gott scoring twice from distance to secure a valuable win.

Jarrow started strongly with the wind behind them, going close through Hudson’s free kick, while Robinson-Coley nearly opened the scoring for Town but was forced wide. The visitors hit the bar twice in quick succession before eventually taking the lead on 16 minutes, Armstrong finishing from close range after Barber’s cross.

Town pushed for an equaliser before the break, coming closest when Robinson-Coley’s effort struck the post and was cleared amid claims it had crossed the line.

With the wind in their favour after half-time, Redcar dominated. Robinson-Coley and Beach both tested Wells, but the Jarrow keeper stood firm. As pressure mounted, Abdullahi set up Gott, who fired in a 30-yard strike to level with 11 minutes remaining.

Town continued to attack, and deep into injury time, Gott struck again, this time delivering from a wide free kick to seal all three points and a third straight home win.

A thunderbolt from Taylor and a Stares header, against his former club, in the first half were enough to give Town their first win at the Neeform since Boxing Day.

Every year there is an annual campaign in September that the organisation If U Care Share Foundation do a campaign to raise awareness for the prevention of suicide or for people to get the help they need. Teams are invited to support this and highlight this cause by getting players to wear t-shirts inside out. Huge thanks to some of the players for doing this yesterday.

Town made two changes from the side that beat Alnwick, with Gott returning and Kayden-Coley restored to the line-up. On an excellent surface, Town dominated possession and created the clearer chances.

Garbutt fired a free kick just over before Carmichael’s 20-yard effort was palmed away by Hughes. McDonald’s deliveries then found McLeod and Clark, but neither could hit the target. Harrison and Gott also went close, while at the other end Cowey’s awkward back-pass almost gifted Park View a chance, but Gott covered well.

As half-time approached, the best opportunity fell to Clark, who met Duffield’s whipped cross with a powerful header but sent it just wide. Turnbull also went close before the break.

Town continued to press in the second half. McDonald’s inviting cross found Duffield but the ball bounced awkwardly and his header was narrowly over, while Turnbull and Robinson-Coley both saw efforts blocked. Substitute Bruton added energy and tested Hughes from distance, while Clarkson’s set piece created further pressure.

Bruton was later pulled back in the box but stayed on his feet and was crowded out, before McDonald’s mis-hit cross almost caught Hughes out at the near post.

Despite their dominance, Town couldn’t find the breakthrough and were forced to settle for a point.

Redcar Town left it late for the second time in a week, Archie Medcalf’s 88th-minute header sealing a hard-fought win over a well-drilled Boldon side.

Town welcomed back skipper Craig Gott and Josh Duffield, Robinson-Coley and Turnbull stepping up from the bench. Conditions were ideal, and Redcar started brightly, McDonald and Medcalf’s early crosses just evading Clark and Robinson-Coley.

Medcalf then released McDonald, whose low ball was met by Clark but blocked, with Robinson-Coley and Harrison also denied. Town continued to press, Garbutt’s inswinger flashing inches wide, while Turnbull’s cross narrowly missed Garbutt. Boldon’s first effort came on 25 minutes, Robertson shooting wide from distance.

Redcar saw plenty of possession but struggled with the final ball. Harrison won a dangerous free-kick that Gott couldn’t convert, and just before half-time Clark headed McDonald’s corner down but Harrison’s shot was off target.

The pattern continued after the break. Turnbull’s fizzed cross found no takers, Clark fired over after good work by Harrison, and Robinson-Coley forced a save from Walker after beating three men. At the other end, Zych’s tame shot and Smith’s free-kick were comfortably dealt with by Cowey.

Chances came and went for Town — Clark hit the side-netting after being released by Clarkson, Walker denied Clark bravely, and Clarkson saw a shot blocked. Boldon threatened on the counter, Zych heading over and Cowey saving well.

The breakthrough finally came on 88 minutes when Smith won a corner. Wilson’s delivery was met by Medcalf at the back post, his diving header finding the bottom corner for his first Town goal.

Boldon pushed forward late on, but Town held firm to claim their fifth win in a row.

Redcar Town recorded an opening-day win away at recently relegated Tow Law Town.

Returning striker Kyran Clark scored the early goal—on his second debut—that proved decisive in a game Redcar dominated throughout.

Redcar started brightly. In the first minute, Clark flicked wide from Smith’s near-post cross, then Carmichael worked an opening for himself, only for his shot to be charged down for a corner.

The Lawyers nearly had a breakthrough in the sixth minute when Tones appeared to foul Gott before delivering a dangerous low cross that Bennett did well to clear.

The visitors responded and took a deserved lead on nine minutes. Smith intercepted in midfield and found Clark on the edge of the box. The prolific hitman curled a lovely low shot around Strange and into the far corner.

Redcar looked to press home their advantage. First, Bennett hit a shot from range that cleared the bar, then a great ball from Sekete released Clark, only for the blond striker to shoot wide with only Strange to beat.

Carmichael continued to carry the fight to Tow Law. First, he fired a free kick from 25 yards just over the bar. Then, a great through-ball from Smith saw him cut inside to shoot, but his goal-bound effort was deflected inches wide.

In first-half stoppage time, Clark linked with Smith on the corner of the Lawyers’ box. Last season’s top scorer brought the best out of Strange with a powerful angled drive that had the keeper at full stretch.

The second half continued in the same vein. In the 46th minute, Clark broke free down the right, drew the keeper, and squared to an unmarked Smith. But with the goal gaping, the ball was just behind him and the chance went begging.

A minute later, the impressive Sekete combined with Clark, who laid the ball back to Duffield, whose powerful shot flew just wide.

The blue-and-white wave continued, and Strange bravely denied Clark and McDonald at their feet as they looked to burst clear following good balls from Carmichael.

On the hour, Sekete played a great ball across the Lawyers’ goal, but no one was on hand to apply the finishing touch.

Two minutes later, Clark brilliantly turned his man 25 yards from goal, beat another two defenders as he advanced into the area, and fired a low shot that beat Strange but drifted inches wide of the far post.

Another great turn from Clark saw him set up Smith, but Strange again produced an acrobatic save to keep the margin at one.

With ten minutes left, Tow Law had their first attempt on goal when Tones saw a shot drift just wide from the edge of the box.

In the final five minutes, substitute Robinson-Coley did well to find the feet of fellow sub Storr, who, with his back to goal, turned and forced Strange into action yet again.

As the clock ticked into added time, Tow Law had one last chance to claim an undeserved point, but Alderson’s 18-yard effort was wide of the target.

A hugely encouraging and controlled performance from Redcar, one that was more one-sided than the scoreline reflects.
