@luanam465@Shrink_at_Large I didn't really convince them of anything. I have some of the symptoms of that and not others. That's a complicated diagnosis. My understanding is that there's talk of recategorizing it in the diagnostic manual to be on a spectrum of trauma responses with PTSD and others.
@luanam465@Shrink_at_Large Really? Because my CPTSD diagnosis has had a profound positive benefit on my life. It's enabled me to understand the nature of my trauma responses, and started me down a path of healing. Sorry if your experience has been different, but Many of our experiences prove this is real.
@StuntNun@Shrink_at_Large The experience is kind of like an anxiety or panic attack. What would help me from my partner would be just sitting together with me and light physical contact, while I pay attention to what my body and mind are doing, and just breathing. It depends on the person though.
@StuntNun@Shrink_at_Large I imagine that's different for everyone, but what has helped me with it is learning more about RSD, so in those moments I can recognize and remind myself that what I am experiencing is RSD and that I'm not really in danger. It's kind of a matter of just soothing.
@Jody_Houser I don't remember who it was, but there was some President, I think in the early 19th century, whose proudest achievement was the fact that nothing new of major importance happened during their term in office.
@broadwaybabyto Recently had first experience being told heart concerns were "anxiety". Sent to ER by Urgent Care, was told it was anxiety attack. Like, no - my anxiety attack Didn't start till I Saw an ER full coughing patients not masking. They didn't even do the tests urgent care ordered.
@broadwaybabyto A few months ago I suspected I may have COVID (I didn't), and thanks to insurance stuff, had to test at the hospital lab.
They had me sit in a room with seriously ill patients for an hour. I wore an n95, but masking wasn't even required for me, a suspected COVID positive. π€¬
@broadwaybabyto Oof. I'm so sorry. That's absolutely crazy that they were putting you and others through that, and nuts that they've now swung the other direction.
@PaulGadsden82 I was in a frantic search to get my partner's mood stabilizer refilled. Their response was to tell me that the half-life for that med is 2 weeks, so waiting isn't a problem.
Like, 2 days off she's gone from stable to screaming on the floor for 8 hours straight, but sure doc.
@TheFan965 Don't worry, I took care of having to listen to that obnoxious argument on Fox by switching to 610 - The total silence there was preferable.
@KeithWentz2@TheFan965 Not true. I don't have access to TBS, and it doesn't seem to be on any broadcast channels, so the radio is my only option right now.
@Mattwith1T@TwyliteGalaxy "Not surgical", meaning better than surgical. Kf-95, N-95, kf-94, or other standards. Surgical masks aren't made to handle aerosol particles, which is why they don't have a tight fit, which is why they are not highly effective against aerosolized illnesses.
@citrusdriad It sounds to me like your friend might not know what OCD is. Which would be .... fine ....most people don't actually know what OCD actually is.
@BrownieTurd@chantz_y What part of this post was guilting or shaming? Was it where they asked people who were sick to not go into other people's homes? The way I was raised, that was just plain common courtesy.
