My father passed away just over a month ago. 12 hours ago a part of him came back into this world with the birth of my son. James Evan Fuchs. 31 weeks, so we have a road ahead of us before we head home, but as my father always said, everything always works out. J.E.F.

Today I spent most of my morning planning for all of our teachers out tomorrow, so they can attend a valuable professional learning experience. Thankful to have staff that are willing to support their colleagues knowing we are unlikely to fill with substitute teachers
Waiting on the other teams bus to arrive after football game and one of our scholars walked across parking lot to sit and use my headlights to read her book. Finding a way!
Before each staff meeting this year we have begun with some sort of grade level competition. Today was rock, paper, scissors….winning team gets donuts, coffee, and exclusive seating right in the media center.
Another year in public education as we wrapped up workshop week and end it with our opening football game. Thankful for all the years in an array of places and jobs. Loving the vibe moving into year two @BCCS286

Engaging student voice is not just being willing to hear what students have to say. It's about reimagining and transforming education in response to what students have to say. If all we're doing is hearing what they have to say, we're manipulating, not engaging.

Our YPAR Baddies presented their research project the last Friday of school. I have been processing and reflecting on the their demands around our restorative work. Grateful for their year long study and perspective as students in our school. #becomingjusticecentered

During field day I monitored our gate to the field area and held 4 meetings with teachers and two with student leaders from the bumper of the 4Runner and back opened up. Clearly more meetings should take place here as they were all smiles as we professionally dialogued
What a week @BCCS286 students protest to gun violence, last day with seniors on campus, field day for 6,7, and 9, 8th grade promotion, YPAR team presented their research project on Restorative Justice in our school creating a list of demands including a student bill of rights.
