A few years ago, we visualized a tournament format that would transcend the boundaries of existing traditional scientific competitions and revolutionize the way students engage with science. To this end, we curated a customized format for the UNSO dubbed the “Science Fight”, that mimics as close as possible the real-world process of scientific research of obtaining, presenting and defending results obtained.

In this tournament, students enter a realm where scientific knowledge is not simply acquired, but fiercely debated and passionately defended. They become active participants in the process of scientific inquiry, immersing themselves in an intellectual arena that demands nothing less than their utmost dedication, analytical acumen, and persuasive prowess. Here, collaboration and teamwork reign supreme, transcending the boundaries of individual achievement.

Today, I stand proud and exhilarated, as the vision we held for this ideal tournament materialized before our very eyes at the UNSO 2023. We were awe-struck by the sheer dedication, analytical acumen, and persuasive prowess displayed by the young participants. They fearlessly delved into the realms of scientific inquiry, questioning established norms, and challenging one another's ideas. And this is the all-young team with whom we effectively delivered the UNSO 2023. Even while looking tired and disorganized, our spirits were high, commiserating on the success we had just witnessed.

Looking to the future, we are inspired to further refine and expand this visionary tournament. We will continue to nurture the seeds of curiosity, innovation, and collaboration, empowering the next generation of scientific visionaries to shape a better tomorrow.

Drumroll, please... 🥁🥁🥁😁. After 6 months of intensive research and a month-long nail-biting assessment of teams at their respective schools, we would like to send a resounding congratulations to the brilliant minds at Nabisunsa Girls School, who have emerged as the CHAMPIONS of the Regional Qualifiers for the 2023 Uganda National Science Olympiad! 🏆🎉

We would also like to send a big shout out to all the teams which participated, especially those that have Qualified to the next rounds. The level of talent and intelligence displayed was truly awe-inspiring, and we are immensely proud of each and every one of you.

As we move forward to the National Round, we can't wait to witness more awe-inspiring displays of scientific brilliance from all the qualified teams. The stakes are higher, the challenges are tougher, and the excitement is building up to a fever pitch! Once again, congratulations to you all.
