It's absurd sometimes the reason people write someone off or disfellowship with them. The smug arrogant attitudes cause people to miss out on good times with amazing people. Unity today comes in hatefulness and judgmental attitudes.
Pretty sad to watch discouraged Christians and their so called "friends" discard them. When a worldly person makes time for them and we don't try, it's even sadder. We need to do better.
Random acts of kindness and encouraging words have been replaced by mean-spirited actions, rude attitudes, and hateful comments. It's time to do better. John 13:35.
"Nobody in pulpit or pew needs a revival more than a bitter-spirited fundamentalist with his dispensations right and his disposition wrong."
~ Vance Havner
Chastising someone or criticizing someone on social media or any open forum is not going to make them change. Nor is it going to cause them to see the "error of their ways."
Using anger to control others, whether in politics, preaching or personally is unscriptural. "The wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God." (James 1:20)
@BrudnakJosiah She's ignorant. That won't stop the problem. What will she do if somebody publishes a weird stat that says hundreds of children are killed by kitchen appliances?
Jesus faced backlash because he challenged peoples sin and fake religion with the gospel, not because he was bloviating about politics or the latest news. (That's actually what the Jews wanted from their messiah ironically)
If you're gonna face backlash for things you say let it be because you're bolding proclaiming the Gospel, not because of your latest political or cultural hot take.
