@DamilareOdulesi@DavidHundeyin@SecBlinken The main thing is the cause, when doing journalism what's the cause?
Good or bad?
Pro /against lens is not the way to look at it.
@DavidHundeyin@SecBlinken How much percent of the West speak English?
Excluding developing countries.
Having that kind of one language media is an advantage?
Africa is disunited and that kind of power of language is not available for the whole continent
The "Authority Illusion," illustrated in this video, is how the self-annointed "leaders of the free world" maintain narrative control over journalism, academia, civil society, and politics. It's all bullshit, smoke, and mirrors. Their control over your mind and the parameters within which you think, is entirely dependent on your credulity. They devote vast amounts of narrative effort to maintaining the cloud of confusion that envelopes the mind of the African and makes him believe that the people who spent 400 years making furniture and leather out of the skin of his ancestors now mean well for him.
It's why if he accepts $1,000 grants from entities funded by foreign governments to misrepresent and misreport the effects of infrastructure deficit and lack of industrial capacity in his country as "climate change," he is a socially responsible climate reporter," and an award-winning "climate justice advocate."
But if he points out that the need to get Africans out of poverty and infrastructure deficit via industrialisation takes clear priority over whatever bullshit a bunch of white people who own private jets agreed over lunch at a ski resort in Switzerland, he becomes a "climate change denialist" and possibly a "conspiracy theorist."
If she gets a job as a reporter at BBC, RFI, VOA, or Al-Jazeera, she's now an "international journalist working for global media." But if she gets a job as a reporter at RT, CGTN, Press TV or Sputnik, she's "not a real journalist" because she's working for "Russian/Chinese/Iranian State-affiliated media." (All of the above media platforms are, in fact, the same thing - state-funded media outfits whose editorial policy never, ever strays from whatever advances the geopolitical goals of their funding government.)
The people holding the pen wield this assumed authority which is built on nothing. There was no meeting where it was decided that Sophie working at RFI in Paris is in any way a better journalist than Yusuf at Radio Nigeria, Kaduna. Because the African bugs agree to keep halting at the line drawn by the pen holders, they are able to wield this completely fictitious and contrived "authority" in professional spaces where Africans accept 2nd class status based on the idea that they are - by default - 2nd rate at everything until proven otherwise.
Then, the measure of African professional growth becomes how oyibo-approved or oyibo-adjacent one can become - and of course, you can never be an oyibo, no matter how successfully you jump through their everlasting series of social, academic, economic, and political hoops. They will keep drawing lines with that pen and keep you forever struggling to keep up with their arbitrary, contrived, and infinite red lines, principles, rules, and guidelines.
Who go make rule for you no go tire.
If you find that your internalised beliefs and habits are constantly in lockstep with whatever narratives this group of people promote, then you may need to check with a neurosurgeon to confirm that your brain is not the same size as that of the bug in this video.
Recently, some losers from near & far have been busy portraying Eritrea’s struggle for liberation as merely a proxy war & its independence as a gift. The truth is that, our struggle was just, & our decisive military victory left our enemies with no option but to accept it!🇪🇷✌️
