(3/3) Only now, in a follow-up email, she said she had “misspoke,” about how SPS is using Rainier’s money. Rainier admin estimates the reserve to be anywhere from 500k to 700k.
(2/3) A community member asked where Rainier’s financial reserve was going. In response, SPS Chief of Staff Kelly Garcia said that Rainier’s financial reserve will be used for “capital improvements” to make Tahoma “more compatible with other Summit campuses.” This was in Nov.

In reference to Rainier’s closure, Executive Director Edwin Avarca said, “This was going to be like the last series of study trips. So I definitely think that it’s a disadvantage. At the same time, I want to protect the health of our students and also their family members.”
