The BBC report on drug abuse in Kashmir is indeed deeply concerning. The revelation that more than one lakh of our sisters and daughters are drug addicts, as per the report, is a distressing wake-up call. It is imperative that we take immediate and comprehensive action to address this crisis. Providing free testing kits to Mohalla committees and every masjid in Kashmir for daily monitoring of our youth is a crucial step.

Additionally, focusing on counselling and mental health support is essential to help those affected by addiction. Converting community halls into drug de-addiction centres in every area is a commendable initiative that can make a significant impact in combating this issue. Turning a blind eye to this grave problem would indeed have devastating consequences for future generations. It is our responsibility to come together as a community and a society to tackle this challenge head-on and safeguard our youth and their futures.
