Trump has now reaffirmed his plan to eliminate the U.S. Department of Education. For the record that department funds, among other things, all the special education and special needs program in public schools and public colleges in all 50 states.
.@GovParsonMO, please do not let Missouri execute
@innonence @the_MIP client #MarcellusWilliams, an innocent person — where there is overwhelming evidence that his trial was constitutionally unfair — on 9/24. https://t.co/rNRhuBJqVH
@ShaneClaiborne I’m so with you on that Shane. This horror prevents me from being able to wholeheartedly support the candidate I will undoubtedly vote for anyway. What can we do!
#MarcellusWilliams faces execution on 9/24 for a crime that DNA proves he didn’t commit. Join me, @innocence, and @the_mip in taking action to prevent this irreversible injustice. #SaveMarcellus https://t.co/rxZ5cX66De
🔥🔥VoteVets' @MaxRose4NY flawlessly sums up Donald Trump:
"All Donald Trump has done for a decade now is act with dangerous extremist recklessness. And we, of course, saw that on January 6, when he sought to utterly overturn an election, destroy the constitution, all in pursuit of his own gain."
On this Fourth of July, I don my red, white, and blue—but with a purposeful twist. In the yawning chasm between red and blue USAmerica, white stands as a stark beacon of unity, desperately stitching together our nation's fraying fabric and the dis-uniting states of America.
Let white be the rising dove, wings spread wide, carrying an olive branch across our self-made political battlements. Let it symbolize the baptismal garment of rebirth, cleansing us of our bitter divisions.
Today, I challenge us all: Choose understanding over discord, embrace harmonious difference over demanding spiteful uniformity. In the white spaces between red and blue, we can forge a new beginning—a truer, more perfect union.
This Independence Day, let's declare our independence from hatred and rediscover what binds us. For in our diversity lies our greatest strength, and in our unity, our enduring hope. Both E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One) and Ex Uno Plures (Out of One, Many). #EPluribusUnum #ExUnoPlures
🇺🇸 Over 80 years ago, American heroes from all walks of life united to crush fascism.
Today, our democracy is under attack from within.
Will we rise and defend their legacy, or let tyranny win?
This November, our vote is a battle cry against fascism.

Today @WCKitchen lost several of our sisters and brothers in an IDF air strike in Gaza. I am heartbroken and grieving for their families and friends and our whole WCK family. These are people…angels…I served alongside in Ukraine, Gaza, Turkey, Morocco, Bahamas, Indonesia. They are not faceless…they are not nameless. The Israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing. It needs to stop restricting humanitarian aid, stop killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. No more innocent lives lost. Peace starts with our shared humanity. It needs to start now.
Jesus put the entire system of death on display. He exposed it all… and subverted it with love, forgiveness, and an empty tomb. Like water poured on the electric chair, he short-circuited the entire killing machine. He is the final sacrifice, the sacrifice to end all sacrifices. Now, any time we kill a human being, even in the name of “justice,” we betray the work of Jesus on the cross. Death does not get the last word… love does.

Jesus had ample opportunity to speak about children.
He had several moments to clarify their need for a strong hand, to rebuke their bothersome, disruptive behavior, to admonish their parents for a lack of proper child discipline.
Yet, never once do we see our Savior do such.
Instead, we see Jesus
1) affirm children’s exuberant praise
2) tell the adults they must become like children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven
3) remind adults the little ones’ angels never leave the face of the Father
4) warn adults there is particularly harsh punishment for adults who cause children to lose faith in Him.
American Evangelical parenting advice and training has missed the heart of Christ for decades and continues to baptize ossified human opinions in the name of scripture.
President Biden is coming to Philadelphia tomorrow for MLK Day. He and Dr. Biden will be sorting food with @Philabundance that will be given out all over Philadelphia, including here at @theSimpleWay. They’ve done it for the past few years, working alongside some of our close friends and volunteers. But this year feels different. I think the best way President Biden could honor Dr. King right now is by calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and refusing to fund this war… We’ll take care of sorting the canned goods.
