A few months ago I went to El Salvador to see whether there were any interesting investment opportunities. I met with lawyers, investors, expats, locals, agents, etc to try to get a good feel for what is happening on the ground. I even got a local tax number in El Salvador to be able to make offers.
What I found is an economy that is booming, but where the boom is not visible yet. The fundamentals are being worked on.
What I also found is a real estate market that ran ahead of itself.
This is not to say that there aren't opportunities, but real estate is already pricing in a considerable part of the economic gains ahead.
However I must say that I was impressed with the economic and anti-corruption reforms being implemented, and by the unity of the people in El Salvador with regards to their current leadership. Only in Oman did I ever come across a people that like their leader to such an extent.
Here is a video of my key takeaways on the economy and the real estate market in El Salvador.
I also wrote a whole article on the real estate market in El Salvador.
Personally, I think the play in El Salvador is either investing with a very long term horizon, or preferably in an active business on the ground. The latter has a lot of potential.
As a pure investment/speculation, I prefer investing in real estate in #Nicaragua.
In terms of overall value at relatively similar valuations, I feel that real estate in #Panama has more to offer. #elsalvador

I really hope this doesn’t apply to all ONG who show where their donations are going. This would cause a lot of them doing really cool stuff for the people here to leave
Chequen este milagro. Qué probabilidad había de que el esquiador pasara por ahí y lo viera para salvarle la vida. Increíble es una palabra que se queda corta.

I’m genuinely curious to hear your opinion on this..
So there’s a community in El Salvador where a large portion of their people make $75 biweekly and you all know how expensive things are here..
so here’s my curiosity. In your opinion is it better to leave them be to prevent gentrification or to bring in a booming economy?
Provide schools and jobs.. yes land prices will go up. Yes, rent may go up..
I see these very negative comments about how we’re gentrifying Los Naranjo’s and destroying their culture. These comments tend to come from the Salvadorans living in the United States who’ve spent the majority of their lives if not ALL of their lives in.. the United States. Whether they like it or not they’re more American (USA) than this “white boy colonizer ” as they like to call me.
I live with these people. Their culture is beautiful. They smile. They accept you. But they are suffering. To blindly believe that they are happy making these wages is a lie. MANY of them can only afford to send their oldest son to work. MANY children follow mom to work while they pick the coffee you conveniently drink in California. MANY of these families cannot afford medicine for their sick and dying family members. MANY have never had the opportunity to take their family out to a restaurant or to buy a piece of land. They already live in illegal land along highways or abandoned pieces of land that will eventually kick them out.
So what’s better? The woke mindset would rather see their people suffer than to prosper. It’s pretty wild. It’s pretty sick and it’s sad how people are being groomed to become sad, racist, victims. Humans have a soul and that soul has no color. We do not choose our skin color. We do not choose where we are born. We are one and must treat each other as such.
What’s your thoughts on this?
@alertanoti La OPAMSS autoriza la construcciones residenciales y edificios de apartamentos, sin hacer un verdadero análisis sobre las calles de Acceso a las zonas, todas las calles del entorno son angostas. No aptas tampoco para camiones.
