My contributor's copy of the latest issue of the Mid-American Review (MAR) from @bgsu has arrived! I submitted long before I knew I would someday work there, and I'm so pleased to have my meta-fictional story about Christina Rossetti appear in its pages! #litmags#shortstory

Its always fun being trapped into explaining to a random customer service person how AI works, that you can't copyright anything created with AI, and that "writing" with AI makes you a writer as much as microwaving a hot pocket makes you a chef.
My TA Fidil & I recommend The West Façade by Lauren Johnson. This historical fantasy set in medieval Paris swept me away. The statues on the west façade of Notre Dame come alive, but one, the statue of Saint Genevieve steps down & becomes human. #purrfectreads
I've finished my first graduate workshop syllabus!! One syllabus down, and one more to go for next semester. The luxury of only teaching 2 classes is unbelievable. I've made 5 syllabi each semester for most of the last 9 years. I'll get to focus so much more on my students now.
I had an amazing first research trip for my fantasy retelling of Little Women. Walden Pond, Harvard's Hougton library, Alcott's house, and more! Walden Pond was so peaceful I didn't want to leave.

I'm excited to announce that in August 2026 I will be starting a new job, at @bgsu@bgsuenglish as an Associate Professor in the creative writing BFA and MFA. I'm beyond thrilled for this new opportunity!
Dr. Pullen & her TA Fidil recommend Immersions by Kyle McCarthy from Tin House books. Two sisters, both dancers & one dangerous obsession. A coming of age novel, a thriller, & stealth Bluebeard retelling, this book kept surprising us! #purrfectreads
