Ustinov died mega rich. But most of his wealth disappeared in legal feuds between his widow and his son, spanning nearly a decade, depleted the estate. A UK High Court judge then ordered an end to the disputes, noting the fortune was no longer worth fighting over and leaving heirs claiming to be near bankruptcy.
Peter Ustinov once was the richest man in the cemetery. Not anymore. ๐
It only calls into question the fairness for those who don't understand how open society function.
You provide to your fellow men goods and services that they desire and are happy to buy.. What's wrong with that?
Win/Win!
The more, the merrier!
We need more Musks on this planet, not less.
Orwell knew the hard life of common people.
In "The Road to Wigan Pier" he writes about the hardship of miners in Northern England. He was not a mere observer. He became one of them.
In "Down and Out in Paris and London" he describes life as a dishwasher, 18 hour work days, starving half of the time.
Orwell was a socialist at heart who despised institutionalized socialism, because of its corruption and cronyism.
@SmithBob2001@DarioCpx Great insight Bob.

Seriously:.."none of them would be released because there is no money to be made yet" is a low-IQ take.
@NancyMa16153771@AncientHistorry Is it really "so like ourselves"?
These Romans used unveiled language (without irony or sarcasm) to describe what happened. "She doesn't love him
"... "He is a bad soldier."
Today we try to sound so sophisticated. That's why we wrap everything in cynicism and clever jokes.
AI - if it is intelligent in any sense of the word - would be a great test of the hypothesis from Feyerabend and especially Kuhn. Do you remember the lectures from @philippecaponis about the philosophy of science?
Everything goes?
Let's find out what "everything" means. We now have countless virtual scientists at our fingertips, who are not blinded by consensus seeking peer pressiert or cultural taboos.
Kuhn argued that when evaluating competing scientific theories or hypotheses, objective criteria like accuracy, consistency, and simplicity do not dictate a single "correct" answer.
Let's find different correct answers.
But - of course - I can't be the only one who thought about it.
My guess is: AI is not intelligent as Albert Einstein was or Isaac Newton. It's just a very efficient knowledge recycling technology.
There will be plenty of merit in recycling of course. It's just not very intelligent.
Indeed. I personally don't buy this extreme optimism (or pessimism, depends how you see it) around AI. Even Musk makes little sense to me on that topic.
There is one test that would prove that AI is approaching human level intelligence: Train an AI model purely on the human knowledge of physics as it existed in the year 1903. Feed it the same sources that Albert Einstein had available BEFORE he came up with the Relativity Theory, and see what it makes of it.
Do the same experiment with Newton, Kopernikus and Galilei.
AI alphas might get disappointed. All AI models are backwards looking statistics, aren't they?
The problem with Marc Andreessen is that he is not shy to give his opinion about literally EVERYTHING if you shove a microphone in his face.
Ask him about your wife's dress or your neighbor's diet and he will be keen to share his expert opinion with the world. The guy loves the spotlight a bit too much.
Having said this ...
This taliban-styled guy in the video sounds like a major douchebag. What a presumptuous clown! He has no idea what Rogan does and how he does it. BTW, did you catch how he contradicted himself in the first two minutes of this waste-of-time rant? ๐
AI is a game changer with very obvious limitations. And it's a misnomer iyam.
@RealPostFolder The secret here that works for almost everyone is to live below your means. Make this a habit and let the saved money work for you.
That's it!
It doesn't matter how much you earn if you spend it all.
