Kiros: At the end of the day, the reason why we are not seeing legislation like Medicare for All, universal child care, and an arms embargo on Israel passed—despite a supermajority of support from the voters of this party—is because when corporations and special interests donate to campaigns, it’s not that they’re going to get an immediate return with legislation that is favored for them. Sometimes the return they get is stalling legislation that would actually make a meaningful difference for families.

And so, at the end of the day, the only way we can trust that members of Congress are actually fighting for that kind of legislation is for them not to be taking money from the very corporations and special interests that do not want to see that kind of legislation pass.

Jon Favreau, former Obama speechwriter and co-host of Pod Save America said he has “a problem” with Democratic congressional nominee Darializa Avila Chevalier because she “has not apologized for attending an anti-Israel rally on October 8th.”

By the time Avila Chevalier attended the October 8 rally, over 413 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza. The Israeli military had struck 426 sites across the Strip, according to official Israeli figures, and more than 2,200 Palestinians had already been wounded.

Favreau went on to characterize Avila Chevalier’s views as ranging from “moronic to abhorrent.”
