I currently live in Charlotte, NC. Very similar to Nashville w/out the tourist. I'd take East TN over Brentwood/Nashville personally but it's really down to what vibe you are looking for. Obviously more amenities in Nashville. E TN has tri-cities airport so travel is convenient. But less flights than Nashville obviously. Lower cost of living, better traffic, conservative politics (if that's your thing), great food culture.
