Why I Am Not Suspending My Campaign
Let me be clear: Despite the immense pressures and intense assaults on my campaign and character, I intend to hold the torch and finish this race - to and after November 5th! The escalating corruption of the US political system and the increasing civic rot of the American Empire requires a strong prophetic witness to Truth, Justice, and Love. The treacherous rules of this corporate-dominated, money-driven, greed-laden game can only lead to a full-blown fascism in the near future. The militaristic abandonment of morality - be it enabling barbaric genocide in Gaza or lethal Cop Cities throughout America - can only lead to World War III or Civil War II. With crude strategists at full tilt in the Republican, Democratic, and Green Parties, only a moral awakening, spiritual renaissance, and social revolution can turn us around! Yet I refuse to demonize those who deeply disagree with me. Although neither Harris nor Trump give a damn about nearly 20,000 precious Palestinian children slaughtered in less than a year or priceless US children (disproportionately Black) living in abject poverty, I do acknowledge that an anti-Trump vote for Harris is not identical to an anti-Harris vote for Trump in the swing states. Hard-won reproductive freedoms for women, the fragile peaceful transfer of power, and waning civil liberties for future grassroots organizing matter. So I take my castigated prophetic stand and invite others to think for themselves and come down where they may! Yet do not be deceived: The American empire dies every day it refuses to confront the militarism, racism, poverty, and materialism that is devouring what is left of its whimpering soul!

It’s disappointing that young behavior analysts are believing, even promulgating, the myth that Lovaas was the founder of ABA. Genuine history reveals a relatively small early influence. It’s too bad that pop revisionism has obscured the larger contributions of so many others.

My riding trainer today used the terms “habituation” & “sensitization,” and warned of what I call the “Aversive Habituation” and “Aversive Sensitization” traps. Behavior analysts can act like we know it all. Sometimes we’d do well learning from these practical behavior experts.

How to know if your behavior expert is not an expert:

If there’s an implicit assumption (or explicit statement) that physically big stimuli are required to produce physically big actions, your person doesn’t know behavior.

The main difference between Skinner’s behaviorism and cognitive psychology? Cognitive psych doesn’t believe in the past. A rat presses a lever. The behaviorist explains, “I rewarded presses yesterday.” The cognitivist invents an invisible, immediate cause. “It has an expectancy.”
