We are saddened to hear of the death of industrial designer Sir Kenneth Grange, who was a longstanding friend of the Design Museum.

One of the most important industrial designers of the last century, Grange’s work includes icons such as the InterCity 125 train for British Rail, the TX1 London black taxi and the Kenwood mixer. He also designed lighting for @Anglepoise, cameras for @Kodak, pens for Parker and post boxes for @RoyalMail, among many others. His work helped define modern Britain and build its reputation as an influential hub of design excellence .

The museum has held two exhibitions about his work: 'Kenneth Grange: Making Britain Modern' in 2011 at our former Shad Thames site and  'Kenneth Grange at the Boilerhouse' in 1983 at the Boilerhouse (the precursor to the Design Museum within the @V_and_A).

Farewell to the amazing Vera Molnár (1924-2023), one of the first women artists to use computers in her practice. In 1968, she taught herself the early programming language Fortran, which allowed her to input endless algorithmic variations into the machine. Wonderful work!
