Told Atlético Madrid already presented verbal proposal for Pierre Højbjerg on loan with buy clause ⚪️🔴 #Atléti
Deal currently complicated as initial proposal not matching Tottenham expectations. Atléti still on it.
🎙️| Luis Suárez’s message to Diego Godín 🇺🇾🥹
“I wanted to leave a special message for a teammate, a friend, a role model, a great captain with whom I shared many matches, many joys, many defeats, but always with that spirit, with that unique way of being he had.
I also had him as a rival in La Liga. We fought, we argued, but because we felt that passion. However, off the pitch, we are great friends and we knew what we represented for our country. That's why we talked about it at the time, and it was a sign, a message between us that we had to stop those fights to win for ourselves, both me with Barcelona and him with Atlético de Madrid, because we were role models for the national team, and we had to try to change that. Luckily, as great friends and teammates, we discussed it back then.
Later, I felt proud to spend so much time with him on the national team. His commitment was admirable, the fights he had for each one of us, for all the people who worked at the Complex who are very grateful to him for everything he did. He always had a role model in La Tota (Diego Lugano), and that influenced him a lot. He learned a lot from him about how to lead the group, and he had an incredible, admirable career, achieving incredible things at club and international levels. He became the player with the most matches in the history of that jersey, which is truly incredible for him.
Many of us feel represented by how well he represented us on a global scale. It was an honor for me to play with him, to share great moments and even some tough losses during our card games at the concentration. Now, I wish him all the best, to enjoy time with his family and this new phase that comes, and I send a big hug to the great Faraón Diego Godín.”
