Breaking down Darius Acuff's PnR brilliance...

A high pick and roll for Darius Acuff was the main initiator for most of IMG's offense last season and for good reason.

Acuff's has an rare combination of volume, production and efficiency....

+ 121 PnR possessions (14 Games)✅
+ 1.74 AST/TO Ratio ✅
+ 12.4 Turnover% (PnR) ✅
+ 58.5% 2PT (PnR) ✅

Acuff ability to play with the ball in his hands A LOT while remaining turnover averse is impressive especially considering his two-pointer efficiency. Developing into a perimeter shooting threat is crucial for Acuff's to sustain his PnR dominance as both a scorer and playmaker.

Acuff is in a special tier of quarterback-esc passers and is in legit contention to be the best passer in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Mikel Brown's lack of mid-range game is noteworthy...

He took 101 dribble jumpers, tallying 37.2% of his total field goal attempts, but just 16.8% of his dribble jumpers were 2-pointers (17/101) shooting just 4/17 on those attempts.

His total non-rim two-pointers show a similar trend, low efficiency and low volume, shooting 24.4% (10/41). With Brown making just 10 non-rim two-pointers all season and attempting a 2PT dribble jumper in just 10 of his 21 games.

While Mikel is an awesome rim threat + perimeter shooter, his overlap of limited volume and poor efficiency is concerning for projecting him to fully develop as a three level scorer. Although, I do think his ease getting to the rim limited his need to use the mid-range as a counter. Still a top-10 pick nonetheless.
